Our practice offers solutions when your lifestyle tips out of balance. Do you struggle with insomnia, substance misuse, sex addiction, excessive anxiety, or relationship conflicts? Chances are this is due to chronic stress and its negative effects. We believe that a balanced lifestyle reduces stress and promotes physical and mental health. Balance is achieved through daily habits and skills, including quality sleep, a healthy diet, regular exercise, intellectual flow, meditative practices, contentment with work, and effective social skills. Therapy in our practice includes improving and integrating these vital components of living into each treatment plan.
OUR CLINICAL EXPERTISE:
Over time, couples can get lost in the minutiae of life and develop maladaptive strategies to deal with increasing demands. In general, long-term relationships are dynamic and benefit from both mindfulness and continued appreciation of your partner. Our strategy for counseling draws on psychological research to offer solutions for relationship conflicts. By emphasizing stress reduction for both partners, improving communication skills, and using cognitive behavioral therapy to encourage healthy emotional flow within the relationship, we assist couples in meeting their partnership objectives.

Fear is the result of a motivational system in the brain designed to keep us alive. We've all felt the effects of our fear system at one time or another (e.g., looking at the ground from 10 stories high, watching a scary movie, having a near-miss traffic accident). Under the right circumstances, the fear system can become hyper-sensitive and produce phobic responses that are out of proportion to the situation at hand. Sometimes fear is too easily provoked by thoughts and memories of previous experiences. Disorders like phobias and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) are the result of the fear system gone awry. We specialize in Prolonged Exposure and EMDR therapy for trauma-related distress. Call our office today for more information. Click below if you would like to read more about anxiety disorders:
Evidence-based: using science in therapy
We use an interdisciniplinary approach to clinical work that relies on research studies from the science of psychology. This means that information derived from systematically collected data (either from experimentation or observation) is integrated into each client's individualized treatment plan. The goal is to provide the most effective, safe, and economical treatment available for behavioral disorders.
"Knowing how things work is important, but I think that's an incomplete view of what science literacy is or, at least, should be. Science literacy is an outlook. It's more of a lens through which you observe what goes on around you."
